Bodegas Cristo de la Vega - Who we are

Bodegas Cristo de la Vega is located in the heart of the D.O. La Mancha, in the northeast of the province of Ciudad Real a region that provides the perfect environment for the cultivation of vineyards. Founded in 1955, Bodegas Cristo de la Vega counts on more than 50 years of experience and on very modern facilities that allow us to elaborate expectational wines.

    Click to enlarge Our Bodega is one of the most important in Spain. We are a cooperative wine cellar and we take the greatest personal care in carrying out each and every one of the processes in the lifecycle of the wine. We cultivate our own vineyards, situated in Socuéllamos (Ciudad Real) in the heart of Castilla la Mancha region.

    Thanks to the contrast of the Continental and Mediterranean climates we have considerable differences between the day/night and summer/winter  temperatures. We stay close to our vines during their whole vegetative cycle, from the pruning to the harvesting, with the sole objective of producing high quality wines and fully satisfying the high expectations of good wine lovers the world over..

  • OUR SOIL

    Click to enlarge La Mancha, a great extension of plain terrain without high altitudes, but with a beautiful reddish soil, fruit of miocenic limestone structured sediments.

    The ideal soils for grapevine cultivation are those of an average structure, frank type and balanced between the contents of clay and slime. Soils with a good development in depth, allowing the accumulation of rainwater and development of roots, suitably equipped with the necessary nutrients and with a good drainage, thus avoiding coverage with puddles to which the roots of the vineyard are very sensible.

    The content in organic matter, usually very small in soil, is very important, not only for its nutritional role for the plant as contribution of necessary substances for the growth, but also as an important physical role for soils, giving consistency while lightening the argillaceous grounds.

    In both cases it assures the accumulation of rainwater and air circulation.

    The vineyard experiences a fast and positive answer to the contribution of organic matters than normally. It is done every three years for being of progressive mineralization.

  • OUR FACILITIES

    Click to enlarge - Vintage Train for white grapes of 500,000 kgs per hour and 300,000 kgs of red grapes per hour.

    - Fermentation System in deposits of 50,000 litres up to 1.500.000 litres, with temperature control.

    - Room for the Wine Stabilization equipped with isothermal deposits with a total capacity of 1.000.000 litres.

    - Filtration and Centrifugation Room

    - Flotation Equipment
    for must cleaning during the elaboration process with a capacity of 1.500.000 litres per day.

  • OUR BOTTLING EQUIPMENT

    - Our bottling line, totally automatic, has a capacity of 6,000 bottles per hour. It is equipped with a sterile filtration and pasteurizer for musts and sangría.

  • AGEING ROOM

    Click to enlarge - Our ageing facilities are prepared for control of temperature with the necessary humidity for this ageing. It is equipped with barriques of American and French oak where our wines rest in silence and calm until reaching the optimal point of ageing in order to be bottled. In the bottle, they continue their rest and finalize their ageing before introducing them into the markets and for being tasted.
